Why I left my 9-5 job to travel

As many of you know, I recently took the plunge and handed in my notice at my 9-5 role to go traveling around Europe - I feel like such a dare devil! *Laughs while crying*

While I did this for many reasons, including wanting to have more time to focus on my blog and seeing more of this beautiful world, one of the biggest reasons for me was I felt I simply needed to do this while I am still young and free!

A few months ago, I suddenly had this massive realisation that I was extremely happy and comfortable where I was in life - I love the area I live in, I enjoy my work (which is only a 15 minute walk from my apartment), I am happily living with my wonderful partner and I have the most loving and supportive family around me. So I began to ask myself, "what's next?"

It was then that I realised, if I stayed right where I was, the next stages of life for me would be getting a mortgage, spending all my hours in an office to pay for that mortgage, perhaps eventually planning on getting married and having children, and so on and so on. While all these things are most definitely on my list and will make me a very happy lady one day, I'm only 23! So again the thoughts filled me, "what's next?"

It was then I knew, I needed to get out of my comfort zone and see more of the world.

As soon as I had made my final decision this was something I was going to do, I had such an overwhelming sense of freedom and relief hit me. I have always been a rather safe person, I love the small comforts around me and my security, so this decision is totally going against anything I would ever normally do. But I just know it's the right thing to do.

One day, when I do have that mortgage, I am back in a job I love and I have those future children in my arms, I know I will have a story to tell, experiences to share and I will be able to look back on this memory with a smile.

(Plus, I can't wait to prance around those European beaches in my new bikini from www.sunseekerswimwear.com.au)

So now I ask you - what big decisions have you made in your life that took you out of your comfort zone?
